Tests for Zoonoses

In 2010 the World Health Organisation estimated that every year, 2.2 million people around the world die from food infections, the majority of them children. Zoonoses represent one possible source of such infections.

RnAssays range of Zoo Plex™ serology tests help food producers monitor animal herds to confirm the ongoing absence of zoonoses such as Salmonella, Toxoplasma, Trichinella, Taenia (cystercicosis) and others.

Sal Plex™ is a plex serology test for Salmonella in serum or meat drip that will discriminate the five most food–associated serogroups B, C, D and E. It detects anti-Salmonella antibodies of at least 90% of all serovars associated with the contamination of food of animal origin.

Trichi Plex™ is a serology test for Trichinella spiralis in pigs: a cost-effective and viable alternative to current digestion method microscopy.

Toxo Plex™ is a serology test for Toxoplasma gondii in pigs.

Solium Plex™ is a serology test for Taenia solium in pigs and, like Cysticerci Plex, is a cost-effective alternative to standard inspection methods.

Saginata Plex™ is a serology test for Taenia saginata in veal calves, again a cost-effective and viable alternative to current slaughterhouse inspection methods.

RnAssays BV exhibits at RAFA 2011

RAVA 2011 at Prague

RnAssays attended RAFA 2011 in the beautiful city of Prague to share the news of Residue Plex™ with a global audience.

Residue Plex can identify and report the presence of multiple antibacterial residue families from one sample in one analysis run.

We spoke with interested parties from over 20 countries about the benefits of our flow cytometry affinity assays.

Particular interest was expressed in the possibility to use Residue Plex as a tool to screen out negative samples, leaving only suspected samples to be confirmed by expensive mass spectrometry.
